LIFE IS GOOD

Following my retirement, I bought a 35' sail boat named the "Peer Gynt."

During my first year year of employment with AAI Corporation as Marketing manager for Combat Vehicles, I lived aboard the boat in the Chesapeake Bay.   Life was never so peaceful!

When "B" Co. 3rd Plt. 3rd Amtrac Bn. moved a Leper Colony several miles north of where they had been located because of NVA infiltration I remember seeing Col Chace on the lead amtrac. When I ran down the steps to COC on 5 May 1968 when sappers had infiltrated our battalion area I remember seeing Col. Chace standing out from everybody else. When we were receiving sniper rounds into our compound from Chinstrap I remember seeing Col. Chace as he was determining the best course of action we should take. When we were at HoiAn with the ROKS and I drove up and parked the tractor I was driving and our plt. LT said, "Col. this is our radio operator" that was the first time I actually met Col. Chace but during my time as a radio operator with "B" Co. I saw Col. Chace from time to time. There was always a confident look on his face. So when I received this picture of him and his loving "SgtMajor" I thought it might be nice for all the other Marines who remember the confident and decisive Col. Chace from Vietnam to see the happy and loving man with his better half today. Life does appear good for Col. Chace!
