E-MAIL FROM CHRIS FOSTER

Col.Chace

My name is Chris Foster. I served with you several time in Vietnam. I just read the e-mail you sent Lee Rabenort and broke down alittle. Bill Cobis was a great friend and Marine. He and I fist met when I was A pfc 1962. I did 3 tours in nam and one extention and would not have been the Marine I became without his guidence.

I was retired from wounds 31 jul 72. My crew hit a 500lb com det mine west of Hue 17 apr 68.Im 100% dis. but still involved with the corps.

I have 5 daughters all Marines Im very proud. Im sorry this is so short but the old hands dont work so well.

It was a great honor to have served with you and I hope your life has been a happy and forfilling one.

This one short note as I went up in the ranks as an nco people have said man you've been Cobised. Im sure you now what they ment.

    REPLY TO CHRIS FOSTER

Hi Chris..Thanks for sending your e-mail.

I remember the day when your tractor hit the 500lb mine that detonated by the VC..As I recall the driver was blown out of the vehicle..through his hatch..and went some distance from the the LVT.. I remember this because of the Purple Hearts that went with this incident..and no one could forget that your vehicle was destroyed by a 500 lb bomb...and I have told the story many times..

I know of no one that has 5 daughters in the Marine Corps...how proud you must be..!!!

My life has been a happy and a fulfilling one..There's never a day I don't think back to how the Corps was good to me. My strong feelings about serving in the Marine Corps are largely due to people like you who unhestatingly went in Harm's Way and although paying a high price for your service...you continue to contribute...and stay involved..

I speak for all Marines in thanking you for your service with us. It was my privlege to serve with Marines like you ..and Cobis. Yes, I was Cobisized many years ago.

Take care,,stay in touch..

God Bless..Semper Fi Stub
